On September 30th, 2016 Oracle will retire the support for the IBM Technology Foundation license for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne - Blue Stack as it is commonly known.

This license allowed JDE E1 customers wishing to use IBM technology to license the WebSphere middleware or UDB (DB2 for Linux/Unix) elements directly with JDE or Oracle with a restricted use license that was cheaper and less complex than buying directly from IBM. It is very similar to the Oracle Technology Foundation for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne license (Red Stack) in nature.

Options for JDE Customers using WebSphere or UDB

  1. Do Nothing – let the support lapse. This will mean no more software updates or telephone support from Oracle for IBM WebSphere or UDB and you will be out of vendor support and at risk for potential issues/downtime or failing audit requirements.

  2. Move from the Blue Stack to Red Stack. This would mean purchasing the Oracle Technology Foundation for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne licenses (Red Stack) for all named users and then migrating from IBM WebSphere to Oracle WebLogic web servers.

Redfaire can assist you with purchasing the required licenses and provide the consultancy to implement the new software elements. If the second option is your preference it is also worth considering migrating away from your on-premise or hosted JDE server infrastructure to Redfaire Cloud9 hosted service.

As part of the migration/transition, we would migrate you from WebSphere to WebLogic and from DB2 to Oracle Database (the license for which is included in the red stack technology foundation license). This would give you far more flexibility of infrastructure than physical servers and the elasticity to increase the memory, CPU or disk capacity of any of the JDE servers in real-time with no requirement for downtime. Redfaire also offers a 100% SLA for the JDE infrastructure. All for a monthly fee.
