Extend JD Edwards with Fusion Cloud - The right Approach for You Image

At Redfaire, we’re dedicated to helping JD Edwards customers maximize their investment in Oracle technology, particularly by harnessing the power of Oracle’s cutting-edge AI and Machine Learning technologies.

Our expertise extends beyond Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to include, Oracle AI and Oracle Fusion Cloud, making us uniquely positioned to guide you in integrating these powerful tools.

JD Edwards and Oracle Fusion Cloud

Increasingly customers are adopting a co-existence strategy, with JDE & Fusion, you get the best of both worlds, enhancing JDE's solid, proven functionality with AI & ML to drive productivity, decision-making, automation, and efficiency.

So where do you start and what are your options if you are on EnterpriseOne 9.2 and code current?  Based on our knowledge of JD Edwards and Oracle Fusion Cloud, the areas where we see the most synergy are:

  • Supply Chain Planning
  • Enterprise Performance Management, EPM
  • Procurement
  • HCM

Supply Chain Planning Cloud

Supply Chain Planning Cloud helps  'fill in' some of the gaps that we see in JD Edwards. With SCP Cloud you get extra features to help you with:

  • Constraint-based Planning
  • Demand at Risk
  • More powerful What-If Analysis
  • Running multiple supply simulations
  • Safety Stock based on demand

AI Driven Demand Management is also a strong feature of SCP Cloud. You can:

  • Simulate/evaluate the impact of demand change
  • Integrate baseline trends and causal factors
  • Create new product forecasts.

Enterprise Performance Management

While many people see EPM as just a planning and budgeting tool, it is multifunctional. When you look at all the possible use cases, the ROI becomes a lot more compelling than if you are just using it for planning and budgeting.

Some EPM use cases include

  • Budgeting
  • Sustainability Reporting
  • Marketing Campaign Planning
  • Crisis Management – Scenario Planning helps eliminate some of the guesswork
  • Cashflow Management
  • Workforce Planning
  • Strategic Planning

With EPM you can get up and running quickly because you have a pre-built library of use cases that you can modify to meet your organization's needs. Another feature we really liked was the integration with spreadsheets. You can be in a spreadsheet but you are interacting with the data in EPM.

EPM is a great toolkit and the templates help you to get to work quickly. The good news is that the integration with JD Edwards is pretty straightforward, there are integration tools which for JDE works with CSV files that can be generated by orchestrations.

Procurement

JD Edwards is strong on the execution side of procurement. We can:

  • Create POs
  • Track and receive POs

We have:

  • Advanced Pricing
  • Blanket orders
  • Requisitions

However, where Oracle Procurement Cloud can really add value is in sourcing and negotiations. While we do have a JDE module called Operational Sourcing and a Supplier Self-Service Module we don’t really see these modules used by a lot of clients and to be frank, these modules haven’t evolved a lot over time.

Oracle Procurement Cloud can be a game-changer and adds powerful functionality to deal with identifying, collaborating and negotiating with suppliers. Oracle Sourcing provides comprehensive visibility into sourcing activities and key metrics, enhancing sourcing efficiency. You can delve into recent activities and stay updated on the latest actions. The negotiation monitor allows for precise assessment of the competitive landscape and potential savings. Instantly, you can gauge the progress of a negotiation and take actions like extending or pausing an auction.

Oracle Sourcing ensures that everyone has the necessary visibility and collaborative tools to accomplish their tasks effectively. All the important information is centralized.

Key Features include:

  • Re-usable negotiation styles and templates

  • Question library for requirements

  • Two-stage RFQ

  • Consolidated view of sourcing activities for buyers and suppliers

  • Questionnaire for supplier responses

  • Spreadsheet support for supplier responses and award analysis

  •  Team scoring

  • Abstracts to publish to external website

What is great is that the features really do complement the strengths of JDE, once we have identified the supplier we can then move to JD Edwards to use the EnterpriseOne Procurement and Subcontract Management Modules.

We highly recommend looking at Oracle Procurement Cloud, it can be a good way to get started on Oracle Fusion Cloud as generally you can start with a small number of licences. What's more the integration is fairly straight-forward.

Next Steps on your ERP Modernization Journey: JDE & Fusion Cloud

  1. Familiarise yourself with Oracle Fusion Cloud AI /ML capabilities
Thanks to our extensive experience of JD Edwards across all industries and our knowledge of Oracle Cloud Fusion Cloud Modules we can help you with this step. While each company is different, we can recommend some good first steps on your ERP modernization journey.

  2. Develop a roadmap based on your business objectives - map the gap
While integrating  Oracle Fusion Cloud modules is fairly straightforward from a technical perspective, we recommend using this project as an opportunity to start a more far-ranging discussion on how AI and ML can not only, help reduce costs and improve efficiency, but also how the technology can drive wider business transformation.

  3. Just Get Started
Our main recommendation is to make a start. You can't afford not to. Start having those conversations with line-of-business owners, attend demos, and check out what the competition is doing. The thought of change can be daunting, especially when you are already busy 'keeping the lights on' in your day job, but the technology is moving so quickly that doing nothing is not an option.
