Did you know that for many Irish people February 1st is the first day of Spring?
While ‘officially’ Spring doesn’t start until March, in Ireland, many people still go by the Celtic calendar. There are many traditions and rites associated with the first of February, which was known as Imbolc in pre-Christian times and later known as St. Brigid’s day.
So whatever calendar you use, we’d like to take the time today to wish you:
• Happy first day of Celtic Springtime
• Happy Imbolc
• Happy St. Brigid’s Day
At the very least, here’s to the end of January, to sunnier weather and bright days to come (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).
